TRIPS AND EVENTS

Carers need to take a break from caring.  Taking a break can help you to recharge your batteries and can prevent ill health as a result of tiredness and stress.  We run a year round calendar of organised trips out and events to help you to take a break with other carers.  They are open to carers and former carers whose caring role has ended in the last two years.

TRIPS AND EVENTS BOOKING PROCEDURE

A £5 deposit is required to secure your place on all trips and events this deposit is then refundable to all Carers who attend, the deposit will be returned on the day of the trip.

To secure your place on each trip you can provisionally book by telephone but then a £5 must be received by the centre within 14 days of putting your name down, otherwise your place may be offered to another carer.

We have also introduced a ‘book from’ date, these will be shown on the newsletter advert and on the information below.  The booking forms for each trip will not be opened until a few weeks before the trip actually takes place.

Brockholes is a new kind of nature reserve; an unreserved reserve!

Owned by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester & North Merseyside they have already hosted over 200,000 visitors since opening in April 2011.

There is a lot to see and do at Brockholes, as the visitor village is complete with a restaurant, shops and a welcome centre all located on a floating island. You can also explore their family-friendly hides, walking trails and play area.

We will be given a guided walk of the nature reserve which will take approximately one and a half hours, then you will have some time free to explore, have a picnic or enjoy some lunch in the cafe / restaurant.

SIZERGH CASTLE

THURSDAY 18th JULY 2013

Join us for a visit to this medieval house with rich gardens and estate.  The imposing house stands proud at the gateway to the Lake District.  Its rich and beautiful garden includes a pond, lake, a national collection of hardy ferns and a superb limestone rock garden.

Still lived in by the Strickland family, Sizergh has many tales to tell and certainly feels lived in, with  centuries old portraits and fine furniture sitting alongside modern family portraits.

There will be plenty of time to explore the gardens and estate, you could bring along  a picnic lunch or treat  yourself to lunch in the onsite cafe, we will then enjoy a guided tour of the house.

If you have mobility problems, please inform us at the time of booking.
